Jill's Dragon Jacket
I made this jacket to go with a dress for myself for my 25th Wedding Anniversary party. Since my husband Donald and I had effectively eloped for the wedding, we took this opportunity to host the reception. It was a wonderful time!
The jacket is made from two layers of satin with batting sandwiched in. My friend Mike Symes, a very talented artist, drew the dragon for me on paper. I made copies and finally stitched through the paper and the three layers VERY CAREFULLY to create this fabric. Sewing in the dragon took five hours.
After quilting the dragon, I stitched patterns of waves around it to make it more prominent and to make the fabric look more fitted. Then I cut out the fabric and made the jacket.
